Although we agree that airquality have become better in the recent 1-2 years we still do not see the target being high enough - It should never be the goal to pass a national standard - it should be a goal to far far superseed it! It is however good to see some action and we look forward to again go swimming in Taihu this summer.

Hostage drama in Wuxi

So this guy, who is a drug addicts, takes his sister-in-law as a hostage outside a bank on Yongle Lu. While this is an aweful situation he should try outside McDonalds on Yongle Lu instead. We feel this would make more of the statement. There is no report of what the guy wanted!

Eton House fitness

Etonhouse is offering a free ‘Parent Fitness Program’ to our current parents, starting from 8 March, Monday.

They are opening up to all interested parties who would like to join this program.

Fitness Program - Instructor Mr. Beau(Korean) from Wuxi Etonhouse international School.

Monday: 3.35pm -4.30pm.

Thursday: 3.35pm-4.30pm.

Venue is Wuxi Etonhouse International School.

This program will start from 8 March till 21st April a total of 7 session in 7 weeks.

March Beer of the Month at Havana Cafe

The guys at Havana Cafe have announced that the Beer of the Month in March will be Indian.

Kingfisher is the most famous Indian beer and is a pilsner style beer with 4.8% alcohol. It is available in March only for 25 rmb at Havana Cafe.

WVC Trio +1 2010 China Tour (Brazilian Jazz and Original Compositions)

Friday the 12th March 20:00 enjoy Brazilian style jazz at Wuxi’s first authentic jazz club Old Time Bar. The WVC Trio+1 are touring China and are making a stop in Wuxi for us all to enjoy.

The band was formed by Malaysian pianist Tay Cher Siang in 2004, the other members of the group are bassist Vincent Ong, Drummer Adam Osmianski and Saxophonist Benjamin Lee. They believe that jazz is not just about tradition, but also the mixture of various musical styles and new approach to the composition and performance. In WVC Trio+1 Tour 2010 they will present many original compositions and Brazilian tunes.

Winners of the Suzhou 2009 Battle of the Bands Coming to Wuxi

Friday 5th March Pegasus is hosting their second Rock Night. Dash Band, winners of the Suzhou 2009 battle of the bands, will be rocking-out from 9pm. Promotions however will be running all night so get in early if you want a seat. All 500ml (large) German draft 30RMB, German Sausage special with fries or mash 45rmb and kebabs 20RMB all night. No ticket needed.

Havana Cafe Library is now open

Lantern Riddles Guessing

On the evening of Lantern Festival, riddles guessing activities will be held at Donglin Academy and Former Residence of Xue Fucheng respectively.

The activity at Donglin Academy is from 18:00 to 21:00. Apart from artistic performance and riddles guessing, a live test about World Expo knowledge is also specially arranged by the Academy.

The activity at the Former Residence of Xue Fucheng will begin from 18:30. Thousands of beautiful lanterns will be displayed. At the same time, various programs will be arranged on the stage, in the hall and the west garden, such as traditional local drama, story telling & ballad singing, and folk music.

Go to Plum Garden to appreciate plum flowers is one of the favorite activities of Wuxi citizens in early spring. Since the temperature is going up these days, some plum flowers begin to bloom. There are more than 370 kinds of plum flowers in the Plum Garden. From February 25th to March 15th, these flowers will be in full blossom.

A few steps from the gate, a colorful and lovely little tiger sculpture is waving hand to visitors. At present, a famous flower exhibition is being held in the Plum Garden. Visitors can go to different exhibition halls to appreciate famous flowers, such as peonies, tulips and narcissuses.

From February 14th to 28th, a traditional Chinese painting exhibition is held at Gu Yu (Wang Xiu) Memorial, which is located at No.3 Xueqian Street. 60 tiger paintings from the hand of local artist Xie Dexing will be displayed. He has painted more than one thousand tiger paintings in the past few years, which have won extensive approval from the artistic circle.

A number of Mr. Xie’s works won awards in various competitions. His works "Bamboo Garden” and “Five Tigers’ Athletics” were collected in the Works of Famous Elderly Chinese Calligraphers and Painters. Some of his awarded works will be showed on this exhibition.
